HELEN BENEDICT

Helen Benedict, a professor of journalism at Columbia University, is the author of five novels and five books of nonfiction, many of which concern social justice and women. Her writings on women soldiers won the James Aronson Award For Social Justice Journalism in 2008, and her book, The Lonely Soldier: The Private War of Women Serving in Iraq will be published by Beacon Press in the spring of 2009.
