Arizona School Tax Credit:  A Win-Win Contribution for 2013

 

Arizona residents have the opportunity to financially support a local school of their choice and receive a tax credit for their donation. City High School is looking forward to using tax credit funds to enhance the school’s regional field trips, City Works programs, Advisory, Student Government, and other extra-curricular activities such as the Kore Press Grrls' Literary Activism Workshop.

 

Tax Credit Basics

Arizona law allows taxpayers to contribute to schools ($200 if you file individually and $400 if you file jointly) and receive a tax credit for the donation. A tax credit is a dollar-for-dollar reduction of the taxes one owes to the state. If, for example, a family owes $400 in taxes to the Arizona Department of Revenue and they make a $400 contribution to City High School before December 31, 20012, the family’s tax bill could potentially decrease to $0. All Arizona taxpayers are able to take advantage of the school tax credit option, whether or not they have children in the school system.

 

Funding Extracurricular Activities

As a public charter school, City High School can use tax credit funds to support any educational or recreational activities that supplement the educational program of the school and require a fee to participate.

 

Supporting Character Education

Tax Credit funds can also be used to support City High School’s innovative City Works program, which builds character and fosters civic engagement. With tax credit donations, students and teachers will be able to do more fieldwork, invite more guest speakers, and publish more widely the results of their work. Additional funds for City Works will increase students’ opportunities for learning outside the school walls and ensure that their projects have a greater impact on the community.

Pennington St, Tucson, AZ 85701. You can also make a tax credit donation online at www.cityhighschool.org.  Be sure to indicate it is for the Kore Press Grrls Literary Activism Workshops/Kore Press Residencies.
